A new home
The move to Halsall came about rather unexpectedly.
Around 25 years ago, Richard was dropping his business partner, Paul, home when he noticed a derelict building in the village.
That building was the Old Halsall Arms.
What started as a passing observation eventually became the firm's new home.
The building needed work, but the Partners could see its potential. Rather than simply finding another conventional office, they took on the challenge of transforming the old building into a place where clients could feel comfortable coming to talk about their finances.
It has remained our home ever since. It may be an unusual setting for a financial services firm, but it suits us perfectly. The Old Halsall Arms is part of the local community, and our presence here reflects the importance we have always placed on being approachable and accessible to the people we serve.
The Next Generation
After more than 30 years at the firm, Richard Bamber Senior stepped away from the business, with his son, Richard Bamber Junior taking over the leadership of the company.
It marked an important moment in the history of Richard Bamber & Company.
The firm remained a family-led business, but it also began a new chapter combining the foundations established in 1984 with a fresh perspective for the future.
A business built on relationships
For much of our history, we have grown through word of mouth and personal recommendation.
That says something important about the way we believe financial services should work.
Our clients aren't simply names on a database or numbers on a spreadsheet. They are individuals and families, often people we have looked after for many years and, in some cases, generations.
We have seen clients retire, start businesses, buy homes, raise families and pass wealth on to the next generation.
Being able to be part of those important moments is one of the things we value most about what we do.
Looking forward
Although our history is important to us, we aren't a business that wants to stand still.
The next chapter of Richard Bamber & Company is about taking everything that has made the firm successful over the last four decades and combining it with a more modern way of working.
We are investing in technology, improving the way we communicate with clients and making it easier for people to access our advice whether they are local to Lancashire, Merseyside or based further afield in the UK.
